104GALERIE（東京・中目黒）は2024年3月9日(土)～3月30日(土)の会期で永戸鉄也による個展「lodestone」を開催いたします。

永戸のこれまでの104GALERIEでの二度にわたる個展では、コンセプト、プロジェクトベースの作品を発表してきました。前回の個展からおよそ4年ぶり、３度目の個展となる本展でご紹介するのは、永戸の主軸とも言える純粋なコラージュを中心とした作品となります。また、新たな展開として昨年制作したデジタルコラージュ作品と、そこから作り上げた立体作品もご覧いただける機会となります。

永戸鉄也はコラージュ作品を長い間探求してきました。その素材は永戸が収集してきた膨大な量と種類の印刷物です。印刷物は本来持っていたコンテクストから分断され、色や質感といった情報が感覚的な記号として永戸の意識の中に取り込まれます。そして紙の分解や加工、再形成などの作業、いわば現実の世界と非現実の世界を行き来しながら繰り返される無数の動作を通じて、新たな意味やイメージを持ったコラージュ作品としてアウトプットされるのです。永戸の作品を通して、わたしたちは“既存のものを変容させる意識”や日々を過ごしていながら“別世界からの視点”を感じることができるのです。

本展のタイトル「lodestone＝天然磁石」には、永戸が作品制作において常に感じている微弱なエネルギーの流れや磁力といった重要な意味が込められています。メインとなる作品は、永戸の考える生と死から解放された思考の世界から生まれた磁力のシンボル6点が投影されています。
作品を作ることも、素材を手に入れることも、自分に吸着される何らかの力があって、作品が勝手に出来上がる様な感じがする。紙の破片が磁力で吸い付くかのようだ、と永戸はいいます。本展はこれまでコラージュアートに向き合ってきた永戸鉄也の多角的なアプローチによる作品群となっています。是非皆様にご高覧いただけますと幸いです。

104GALERIE (Nakameguro, Tokyo) is pleased to present 'lodestone', a solo exhibition by Tetsuya Nagato from 9 (Sat) - 30 (Sat) March 2024.

Nagato's two previous solo exhibitions at 104GALERIE presented conceptual and project-based works. In this third solo exhibition, Nagato will present works centred on pure collage, which can be said to be her mainstay. In addition, as a new development, this is an opportunity to see the digital collages he produced last year and the three-dimensional works he created from them.

Tetsuya Nagato has been exploring collage work for a long time. The material for these works is the vast amount and variety of printed matter that Nagato has collected. The printed matter is broken up from its original context and information such as colour and texture is taken into Nagato's consciousness as sensory symbols. Through the countless actions of paper disassembly, processing and re-formation, in other words, the repetitive movement back and forth between the real and unreal worlds, the output is a collage work with new meanings and images. Through Nagato's work, we can feel a "consciousness that transforms the existing" and a "perspective from another world" in our daily lives.

The title of this exhibition, 'lodestone = natural magnet', has an important meaning, such as the weak energy flow and magnetic force that Nagato constantly feels when creating her work. The main work is a projection of six symbols of magnetic force born from Nagato's idea of a world of thoughts free from life and death.
In both making the work and acquiring the materials, there is some kind of force that adsorbs me, and I feel as if the work is created on its own. It is as if the pieces of paper are magnetically attracted to me, says Nagato. This exhibition presents a group of works by Tetsuya Nagato, who has been dealing with collage art for some time, from a multifaceted approach. We hope you will enjoy the exhibition.

An opening reception with the artist will be held on Fri 8 Mar from 19:00. Anyone is welcome to attend, so please feel free to come along and join us.
